when i was younger, i used to watch
davey and goliath almost every sunday. it was unlike any cartoon out there, in that the images were more like puppets and were 3-d (that was a big deal in my day). it had a very religious message and i'm not sure if i watched it now if i would like it (i probably would). anyway, i was flipping through the stations last night and came across a cartoon on
adult swim on
cartoon network called
morel orel.
here's a photo of him at church waving at God. it is funny how things of old always have a way of coming back again. however, this version according to
Wikipedia is like "
Davey and Goliath meets
South Park." i haven't watched an episode yet, but i'll let you know what i think when i do. i LOVED
davey and goliath...i lived to hear the words "OH DAVEY!" we used to sell the videos for this show where i used to work...definitely should have bought them. there has definitely been a resurgence of the 80s for me as of late. i listen to a lot of new wave 80s on sirius satellite radio, went to see
music and lyrics, and now this little reminder (well, they were actually shown in the 70s...i'm that old). gotta love stop-motion animation. here's a link about
davey and goliath. it took on a lot of issues and it even had one of the first african-american cartoon characters, jonathan reed. go davey!
